AE Techron Announces New Series of Portable AC/DC Amplifiers with Independent DC Supply

The 7100-series are high-speed AC/DC amplifiers with an independent, precision DC supply. They provide exceptional versatility and value in a compact, portable design.

August 23, 2018 - AE Techron, Inc. announces the availability of three new amplifier models: the 7114, 7118 and 7136. The new 7100-series offers high-speed, four-quadrant operation, coupled with a separately controlled DC supply, a full complement of user-controlled functions, and a comprehensive protection system—all in a light-weight and very portable package.

The 7136 model weighs just 40 pounds and fits into a standard 2U rack space. The 7114 and 7118 models are half the size of the 7136 and can be moved easily from bench to bench using their convenient carrying handle.

Despite their small size, the 7100-series are powerful amplifiers capable of DC to 150 kHz operation, making them ideal for a wide range of uses. The 7114 outputs 15 amps at 13.5 VDC, and can deliver up to 25 Apeak or up to 90 Vpeak. The 7118 is capable of up to 425 watts RMS output power and can produce up to 15 Apeak or up to 150 Vpeak. The 7136 is capable of up to 200 volts RMS and provides a very fast slew rate of 165 V/µs. All units have small-signal capabilities up to 400 kHz.

Front panel user controls make it easy to configure the 7100-series amplifier for a wide variety of uses; gain, current limit, and DC offset can be fixed or infinitely varied. Amplifier output can be AC coupled (DC blocked), making the 7100-series amplifier the ideal choice for driving objects that are easily damaged, like piezo elements or small-signal electronics; or don't tolerate DC offset, like transformers and coils. All features can be disabled when only a durable, high-current amplifier or DC source is needed.

The 7100-series' independent DC supply operates without an input signal and independent of input signal and amplifier gain. When this capability is combined with an input signal from a function generator, a 7100-series amplifier becomes a versatile DC source with high-speed ripple and dropout capabilities.

7100-series amplifiers are built with AE-Techron's new DC-Max™ topology. Amplifiers with DC-Max have long term DC power that is improved more than 40% over traditional amplifier designs. This increased DC performance better matches the power requirements needed for DC conducted immunity and PSRR testing.

While compact in size, these amplifiers were built using the same conservative design rules and protection system that have made AE Techron amplifiers the toughest, industrial-grade audio-bandwidth amplifiers available.

AE Techron is world-recognized as a manufacturer of precision amplifiers for industrial audio-bandwidth applications. The addition of the 7100-series provides customers with new choices for durable, industrial-grade linear amplifiers that provide exceptional versatility and value.
