AE Techron Standards Waveform Generator Now Available, a Complete Solution for AF EMC Testing

The 3110 audio-bandwidth Standards Waveform Generator simplifies the process for automotive and aviation EMC testing. It features a powerful yet simple-to-use interface and a large library of Automotive and Aviation tests.

August 22, 2016 - AE Techron, Inc. announces the availability of its new 3110 Standards Waveform Generator, an audio-bandwidth waveform generator created for use in automotive and aviation EMC compliance and pre-compliance testing. The 3110 features a powerful yet simple-to-use interface and a large library of Automotive and Aviation tests. Tests are easy to link, build from scratch, or customize using time-saving controls like triggers and loops with changing variables. Plus, the 3110's intuitive, drag-and-drop interface makes it easy to modify existing tests or build new tests.

The 3110 produces standard signals and waveforms with or without a DC offset. Frequency, amplitude and DC offset can be fixed or swept, and sweeps can be linear, logarithmic or exponential. It can create dropouts and surges with rise and fall times as fast as 3µs. Individual signal duration can be as short as 20 µs or as long as 49 days. It can also produce ripple waveforms of up to 300 kHz.

When used with AE Techron 7000-series amplifiers, the 3110 works intelligently to create an engineered, modular test system. In addition, AE Techron's 7000-series amplifiers can be easily configured into series or parallel multi-amp systems for a wide range of voltage and current capabilities.

For automotive testing, systems providing continuous DC power ratings from 15A to 240A DC are possible. 3110 systems can be used for testing to ISO 16750-2, ISO 7637-2, SAE J1112-11, Ford CS2009.1, and many more. The 3110 combined with an AE Techron 7794 amplifier creates an ideal system for producing ISO 7637 pulses 2b and 4 (voltage variations). It can provide 60A continuous at 13.8 VCD and provides a 150-kHz small signal bandwidth.

The 3110 can also be used to create systems for 115VAC/230VAC with surge voltages up to 380 VAC for aviation testing to DO-160G, SAE J1113-2, Airbus, Boeing D6-16050 standards and more. A 3110 used with a 7224 amplifier and AE Techron T-series coupling transformers forms a system ideal for DO-160 (sections 18 and 19) conducted and induced susceptibility testing, with up to 100 Arms secondary current (T1000), up to 200W audio power (T2000) or up to 3,700V (T3700).

"The 3110 offers a much-needed alternative to difficult-to-operate ARBs or expensive, all-or-nothing EMC test systems. The 3110 provides all you need for AF testing in a cost-effective, easy-to-operate module," explains Larry Shank, AE Techron President.

AE Techron is world-recognized as a manufacturer of precision amplifiers for industrial audio-bandwidth applications. The addition of the 3110 positions AE Techron to supply complete AF test solutions for EMC testing.

"As the speed of technological changes increases," Shank says, "EMC test requirements are becoming increasingly complex. We built the 3110 to simplify the process for audio-bandwidth EMC testing."
